This is a statement of encouragement for you to come out of the closet and be yourself in every sense of the word. This is a mission statement of your own to create and it is a beautiful journey. Just like all of life’s journeys you will find that some of the pathways are coated with gold while others are covered in brimstone.

When you come out of the closet you also tend to embrace your culture. By being out you tend to develop into a stronger, prouder, more evolved human. You start to see the world differently and you start to understand things that were once just urban legends. You develop a stronger sense of self in every aspect of your life.

Maybe you’re one of the lucky ones who has accepting friends and family members and your confession was of little consequence. Fortunately, this is becoming a more popular scenario these days. Seeking out support still gives you a strong connection to your culture.

You may find that you are the receiving end of biblical donations after you come out, and you might even find yourself separating from everyone you knew in your closeted life. This is a normal part of the process.

Embracing your own identity is more than just a sexual preference issue. As you continue to come out of the closet you will find that you are growing and embracing yourself in a whole new way as a gay man or woman. You will find that you are truly unique and spirited and have something very different and special to offer the world. It’s an amazing journey relevant to us all.

It’s good to stand up for yourself but you aren’t going to change prejudice by making sure that you are completely uncomfortable or in danger all of the time. Create a safe network of people who accept you. Let them show you how lovable you are in your own skin. There is a lot of support within the gay community for those who are ready to come out of the closet.
